It’s still like yesterday learning with John Lowery and Kevin Bright both of whom I have great respect. Sadly Kevin is no longer with us.

What has been the highlight of your career so far and why?
Promotion to the National List of Assistant Referees, at 42, I never thought I would achieve this dream.

st March 09. As an assistant referee York City v AFC Telford. FA Trophy Semi Final 2nd Leg. What a party atmosphere and game.

What are your aims and ambitions as a referee?
Secure my role in the Football League improving each season and look start assessing from 2015 / 16.

What/Who has been the biggest influence on your career and why?
John Carter for getting me into refereeing. Russ Tiffin for his advice and guidance. Scott Duncan for persuading me to keep going, helping me achieve my dream when I considered giving up. Sunderland RA for talking football.

In your opinion who is / was the best referee?
Phil Dowd is just a class act. On a local level the North East has some great talent, Michael Oliver, Geoff Eltringham, David Webb, Jonathan Hunt and Seb Stockbridge to name a few. Luckily I have worked with all of them.
